How to walk by faith
Many new Christians and some devout Christians may not have much knowledge about how to walk by faith. Well in this article we will show demonstrations of how to walk by faith and what walking by faith really means.
So, how do you walk by faith?
Firmly rooted in God
We must fear God above all, trusting Him in everything that we do and in all circumstances. Each must believe as has been promised (Hebrews 11:6) that God will reward us for seeking Him no matter what others say.
Built up in God
God is our foundation and we must obey. As such, we must not love the world but live our lives honoring and glorifying the author of our salvation in basically all that we do. Since spiritual matters aren’t heard or seen physically, faith is required. For instance, while the wisdom of the world compels us to hoard resources, walking by faith in God will see us giving to those who are suffering and needy as indicated in Luke 11:41.
Faith established
Walking by faith means you hear, listen, and hope from God. With time as we comprehend His ways, laws, and teachings, the trust we have in Him will continue to grow. That way, no matter what adversity comes our way we’ll experience joy, peace, and stability.
Living by revelation
Walking by faith means allowing God the Holy Spirit and the Word of God to transform us as we allow the Holy Spirit to teach, empower, and show us things to come. Rather than live by our own ability and understanding, we live by the revelation of God (Proverbs 3:5).
Guarding our minds
Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8 what our mind should focus on. With what life is, things can be really difficult, and negative thoughts might just crop up. If we don’t guard the mind, it’s possible to always walk in the flesh and in utter defeat. Focusing our minds on God assures us of nothing but perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3) and guarding our minds and what we think is very important (Proverbs 4:23).
Actually, by renewing our mind we’re promised that we’ll prove the perfect and acceptable will of God (Romans 12:2), thus walking in victory all the time.
Faith and action
We’re constantly reminded that faith without works is dead. As such, faith is action-oriented, which helps us exercise it. As a sign of complete trust in God and that He can completely do anything for us in accordance with His will, Christians have to do more than just pray, read the word, and engage in worship. It means if you’re praying for a new job then you must update your skills and resume. If you want to own a new home, it doesn’t mean leaving it at prayer, but also actively working hard in our jobs that God has provided and saving towards that end.
In essence, walking by faith means not loving the world and what it offers like everyone else, but spending our lives trusting and glorifying God in basically all that we do.
